My Democratic colleagues and I have looked on in disbelief and consternation at the priorities our Governor and Republican members are pushing across the aisle.
Job creation, economic difficulties, and unemployment continue to be ignored on their agenda. They are looking to fringe issues, such as electoral college reform, school vouchers, an insufficient Marcellus Shale impact fee, privatization of the liquor control board and voter ID bills. PA residents are far more worried about the source of their next paycheck than where to buy a bottle of wine.
The PA Senate Democrats have put together the PA Works Now Plan, a comprehensive job creation package. Our plan makes use of state resources, leverages private resources and makes critical long term capital investments that would create new opportunities for future growth and development. It would result in over 80,000 new jobs.
I challenge all of my colleagues in the Senate to join us in looking at real solutions for Pennsylvania.
