I have introduced legislation calling for a one-year statewide moratorium on all new Marcellus Shale natural gas well drilling in Pennsylvania.
I strongly believe we must take a step back to assess the impacts of this type of drilling on our communities and environment, and take the necessary time to put a protective statutory and regulatory framework in place to protect the public’s health and our ecosystems.
SB1447 has been referred to the Environmental Resources and Energy Committee for consideration.
