HARRISBURG, October 17, 2007 - State Sen. Jim Ferlo (D-Pittsburgh) today announced he has secured $400,000 in funding from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) for two local economic development projects.
Pennsylvania Pure Distilleries, LLC in Allegheny County and the Albert J. O’Brokta farm in Westmoreland County each received $200,000 funding from the CFA.
“These projects are essential to the continued economic development in my district,” Ferlo said. “I will continue to look for ways to infuse money into our local businesses and projects.”
The primary business of Pennsylvania Pure Distilleries, LLC is the operation of a potato vodka distillery. The $200,000 will be used to purchase equipment necessary to distill, bottle, and package potato vodka.
The other recipient, the Albert J. O’Brokta farm will use the $200,000 to purchase a 52-acre farm in Leechburg. The primary business will be the operation of a crop farm.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) was established as an independent agency of the Commonwealth to administer Pennsylvania's economic stimulus packages.
